Practice Description:
Warren Kirshenbaum was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has lived in the United States since 1989. Warren focuses his practice both in Real Estate and Business law, concentrating on complex commercial real estate transactions, including medical facility development, retail commercial development, Brownfield’s, construction and general contracting, apartment management, development and construction finance, and housing development. His expertise includes market rate, rent-restricted, subsidized and other tax advantaged development, retail commercial developments, historical, and renewable energy developments. Warren also advises small businesses in general corporate matters. Warren’s experience is rooted in both the private practice of law, as well as from in-house legal and business positions. Warren has worked on corporate and securities transactions, and deals involving large-scale multifamily apartment complexes utilizing tax credit equity, municipal bond funding, HUD backed below-market interest rate financing, tax exempt bond financing, construction or pre-development loans, permanent financing, renewable energy production tax credits, clean renewable energy bonds, and industrial development bonds.
Previously, Warren was Executive Vice-President and General Counsel for a large developer of affordable housing apartment complexes. Warren managed outside counsel, worked with governmental and regulatory bodies on land-use, zoning and other matters requiring approvals. He also advised on management and leasing considerations, construction law, and transactional commercial real estate matters including equity syndications, municipal and tax-exempt bond offerings and placements, construction and permanent financing, stabilization and conversion of interim financing, HUD financed projects, and general tax credit procurement and financing issues.
Warren was formerly a partner in the New York law firm of Eaton & Van Winkle LLP where his practice focused on advising and working with domestic and international clients in the areas of corporate, intellectual property and securities law. He was a former Staff Attorney at Prudential Securities on Wall Street, and founded and managed his own law firm, Kirshenbaum & Kirshenbaum, PLLC from 1995 to 2000.
