Julie Rossetti has been practicing estate planning and trust and estate administration for both basic estates and those of high-net-worth families and individuals since starting her career at Hale & Dorr (now WilmerHale) in 1992.  She works with clients to craft estate plans that minimize estate taxes and allow for orderly and appropriate transmission of assets to intended beneficiaries in a manner that fits whatever the circumstances may be. Estate planning documents may include wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, trusts for real estate, durable powers of attorney, health care proxies, and living wills, among others.  In addition to minimizing estate taxes, comprehensive planning will typically include advice on gifting, asset ownership and beneficiary designations, avoiding probate, and protecting assets from estate and beneficiary creditors.

She also works with clients to administer the estates and settle the legal affairs of a decedent.  Estate administration frequently includes determining if probate is necessary and, if so, which process to undertake, assistance with the collection of the decedent’s assets and payment of debts, preparation and filing of estate tax returns (where necessary), advice on necessary income tax filing obligations, and assistance with distributions to beneficiaries, among other tasks.

Julie also has extensive experience serving as a professional Trustee and dealing with both run-of-the-mill and sophisticated assets held in trusts.  She also provides legal counsel to clients acting as Trustees, guiding them in their responsibilities as such. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
